Sgt. Mendes STS-6  20-5-43.
Is still very young, also mentally. I mean his general behaviour is not devoid of an a---de of youthful irresponsibility and impulsiveness. It should be noted that he managed to enter this organisation very easily and that his response to the suggested work in the field was almost entirely based upon its adventurous appeal, though also inspired by patriotic motives. To put it rather more accurately: It was sheerly a question of being able to prove his loyalty to the Allied Cause in an intrinsically adventures way, without much heed to further consequences.
Past History: Born in Amsterdam; education L.O. and three years M.U.L.O. Worked for 2 years for the printing works 'De Tijd' Amsterdam. Was called up in October 1938. In August 1940 he was sent to the State (Coal) Mines at Terwinselen in S. Limburg. Worked there until May 1942. With a friend he then left the country via Belgium to France. Was sent there to the Camp des Travailleurs Etrangers and to the Hollands Huis nr. Perpignan. Received papers from the Dutch Consul of that town to proceed to Spain. Sailed on the 15th Dec. 1942 on S.S. Cabo de buona Esperanza for Curacao. Conscripted in D. RA and sent to Canada. Parents still in Amsterdam. 2 brothers and 4 sisters still in Holland.

.
Natural security mindedness good. He shows determination and resourcefulness. Mannerisms and general behaviour sometimes tend to be slightly offensive, owing principally to youthful indiscretions.

Sgt. Mendes STS-6  4-6-43.
Keen and determined, tenacious when confronted with a situation demanding courage and physical qualifications. Sober habits with regards to smoking and drinking. Emotional stability good.

Sgt. Mendes STS-6  11-6-43.
Rather less intelligent than I might have previously suggested. he still takes things pretty light heartedly. Shows keenness for physical feats with fewer intellectual requirements.

Sgt. Mendes STS-6  18-6-43.
Predominant features with regards to conduct still remain: his unaffectedness, straightforwardness in dealing with other people. Though natural submissiveness is not in his line, he shows obedience to authority thanks to his previous army background. In his normal daily requirements he is not fussy or difficult. I am sure he could stand up, let's say, a long period of privations such as they exist at present on the continent, without his morale being in the least affected.

Sgt. Mendes STS-6  24-6-43.
Natural security mindedness good. reaction to security instructions satisfactory. Character-mentally still very young, a little slow in the uptake. Good display of physical courage and tenacious. Temperate habits drinking and smoking moderate. he has lived in his country during the occupation and is accustomed to the hardships it involves. Good emotional stability. Not over resourceful.

Sgt. Ronnfeldt 28-8-43.
There is little to mention concerning this man except that he seems to enjoy life, has many friends at the school especially among the F.A.N.Y's with whom he spends a lot of time playing bridge. He has one A.T.S. contact in town, but nothing very serious. He is light hearted sort of person and would not expect to fing him any great qualities of character or patience. He seems however to be a courageous type.

Correspondents: Miss Sunny Charles, W.L.A. Hostel, Peldon, nr Colchester, Essex.

STS-35  16-11-43.
He is fairly intelligent, but rather slow. Nevertheless, he is cunning and clever at assimilation. He has some imagination. Although he worked quite hard and showed some initiative, he needs to be kept up to the mark, as he is by nature rather indolent and 'happy go lucky'. He seems honest and trustworthy, bit he is still rather immature and inclined to be self-indulgent. For this reason also he would require firm leadership. He has a pleasant personality, is sociable and a good mixer. He should always be popular. He has not the manner which would normally be associated with the work of this sort; he should find this an advantage in avoiding suspicion. He should make a competent WT Operator; nevertheless on account of his tendency to self indulgence he would need supervision.

Codes: Routine practice required only.

STS-51  27-11-43.
Completed one day parachute descent and one night parachute descent. Participated in all phrases of the training. He was very cheerful and industrious. Taking his previous jumps into consideration he can be classified as FIRST CLASS.

STS-51A  2-7-43.
This NCO did very well in training and jumped well on each of his two descents but mistimed his landing on his second and jarred his legs. He suffered minor injury to his left ankle and knee, but was sufficient incapacitated to be unable to undertake any further descents. He completed the rest of the training however, watched the night descent made by the rest of the party and took part in the night exercise.
TWO DESCENTS    NOT CLASSIFIED.
